This case study details the meticulous planning and execution of seven consecutive Ship-to-Ship (STS) operations conducted between October 2023 and March 2024.

Project Scope: The project involved transporting construction materials from Visakhapatnam (Vizag) port to Car Nicobar Island for the restoration of an airstrip. Due to limitations at Car Nicobar's harbor, a direct discharge from the supplying vessel, M.V. SSL Sabarimalai, was not feasible. SSLL devised a solution utilizing STS operations to efficiently transfer the cargo to barges for final delivery to the island.

Challenge: Remote Location: Car Nicobar Island's remoteness presented logistical challenges in coordinating and executing the STS operations. Limited Harbor Infrastructure: The lack of proper harbor facilities at Car Nicobar necessitated the STS transfers. Manual Offloading: The absence of mechanized offloading equipment on the barges required manual unloading, demanding a skilled and dedicated workforce. Sea Conditions: Ensuring safe and efficient cargo transfer during STS operations amidst variable sea conditions was crucial.

These included a team bus, bus wrap, luggage van, luxury cars, airport transfers and airfreight movement of players’ kitbags. We also provided human resources to ensure the smooth operation of the logistics.
